New regulations became law on the 1st September 2016 which affect all schools in England including academies, free schools and independent schools.
What are the new regulations?
Schools must now notify their local authority when a pupil/student joins or leaves the schools at non-transition points. There are also amendments regarding unauthorised absences.
We’ve produced a guidance document to help schools meet the requirements within SIMS – click here.
We’ve also created a new report, the report definition can be downloaded – click here.
Further changes will be incorporated in the Spring 2017 Release.

KS1 – KS2 Progress Report
Capita have released a useful report for analysing progress between KS1 and KS2.
Schools will already have access to their overall results from this year’s statutory tests at KS1 and KS2, the new SIMS assessment templates and linked reports will provide schools with the ability to compare results for key pupil groups within their school against the national measures.
Progress measures from KS1 to KS2 have also been included which will rely on your school having complete up-to-date KS1 results for current cohorts (from Year 4 onwards including last year’s Year 6). Results may differ from those provided by the DfE if historical KS1 results are missing. If you need help with this process please get in touch by calling 0117 9037999 option 1

Important information about Capita support for SQL 2008
If you have not already upgraded your SIMS SQL server to SQL2012 or SQL2104 or, are at least in the planning stages to do so, you may not be aware that Capita will no longer be supporting SQL2008 after this SIMS upgrade and you should now be making plans to upgrade to one of the above.
Once you have purchased the new SQL software and license, we can offer 2 levels of support to assist you should you required it.
• SIMS Migration only – (charged at ½ day)
• Install SQL and SIMS Migration – (charged at 1 full day)
Also, Capita support for Office 2007 will also be ending at the end of this year. Schools can upgrade to either Office 2010 or 2013.
Support for Windows 7 & 8.1 is already current but Windows 10 will also be available after the autumn 2015 release.
Capita are holding free webinars for Primary school leaders.
